Why I built WaveSphere at 17

Updated 2026-09-27 · By Prateek Pareek

I'm Prateek Pareek — a 17-year-old developer. This is a short, honest note on why WaveSphere Studio exists and what I refuse to do with it.

Short version: I wanted a free way to explore live radio on a map, with tools I actually use (sleep timer, EQ), without forcing signup or pretending to own the stations. Full profile: owner page.

The problem I felt

Globe-style radio is magical. But day-to-day listening also needs simple controls, mobile-friendly UI, and clear honesty: most streams belong to someone else. I didn't want another directory that only dumps URLs.

What I shipped

What WaveSphere is not

Not a giant media company. Not the owner of Radio Mirchi or FM Gold. Not a product that sells fake listener counts. Independent, free core listening, still learning in public.

If you're a student builder

Ship the smallest useful version. Put your name on it. Keep policies visible. The rest is iteration — see press kit and guides.
