What is WaveSphere?
WaveSphere (also referred to as WaveSphere Studio / WaveSphere Pro on the public site) is an independent online radio discovery and listening platform with access to 90,000+ stations from public directories. It runs in the browser, connects your device to publicly listed station stream URLs, and adds a polished player experience: search, favorites, recent history, equalizer, sleep timer, shareable station links, and optional Listen Together rooms.
Important: WaveSphere does not own most stations you hear. Metadata and stream links come primarily from public radio directory APIs and similar open sources. Audio is served by the station’s own infrastructure when playback works. See About and Copyright.
Getting started
- Open the WaveSphere player on any modern browser (desktop or mobile).
- Browse India / world lists, or search by station name, language, or genre (e.g. Hindi, Bollywood, news).
- Press Play. Your browser connects directly to the station’s stream URL.
- Save favorites (stored locally in your browser).
- Optional: open full player, set EQ, set a sleep timer, share a station page link, or host a Listen Together room.
No account is required for normal listening. Optional AI/lyrics helpers may use a key you paste yourself and keep locally.

Playback uses the HTML5 audio element against the station’s url / url_resolved. Volume, mute, theme, EQ, and sleep timer are client-side. WaveSphere does not re-host third-party live audio.
- Play / pause — starts or stops the current stream.
- Sleep timer — schedules stop after N minutes.
- EQ — open from player tools; adjust or use presets (e.g. flat).
- Share — copies or system-shares a WaveSphere station deep link.
- Open in new tab — opens the same station on a dedicated deep-link URL with the full UI.
- More menu — share card, QR, true shuffle, Listen Together, high contrast.
Station deep links (SEO-friendly URLs)
Without creating thousands of static HTML files, WaveSphere supports pretty station URLs that still load the same full player:

When a station plays, the address bar can update to the pretty path. Sharing prefers the WaveSphere link so recipients get favorites, EQ, party tools, and the rest of the UI—not only a raw stream endpoint.
For developers / GEO: Netlify rewrites /station/* to index.html (200). The client resolves slug or UUID against loaded stations or the public radio-browser API, then calls the normal play pipeline.
Station directory
Static hub pages under /stations (India, Hindi, Bollywood, Delhi, Mumbai, News, etc.) help discovery and search engines. The live searchable catalog lives in the player and is fed by public directory APIs (for example community radio-browser style endpoints), covering 90,000+ stations worldwide when the full directory is available.
Quality varies by upstream source. WaveSphere does not sell placements or guarantee every listed stream is online 24/7.
Stream health
Where the UI shows online/offline or “last checked” style signals, treat them as technical hints—not a warranty of continuous audio quality. Prefer stations that look recently reachable when you care about reliability. Offline streams are usually a station-side or network issue, not a WaveSphere outage.
Listen Together (party mode)
Host a room, share the link (includes a room code), and guests can follow the host’s station while chatting and sending reactions. The host controls which station plays. Firebase and/or local BroadcastChannel may be used depending on configuration. Leave the room when finished; notification/chat UI can stay as a compact bubble while the panel is closed.
Privacy & data
- Favorites, volume, theme, and similar prefs → usually browser local storage.
- Admin / announcements / feedback / optional push → Firebase when enabled.
- Playing a station → request to the station’s stream server and directory APIs for lists.

Troubleshooting
Station won’t play
Stream offline, geo-block, bad URL, or unsupported codec. Try another station or network. Check browser autoplay policies (user gesture may be required).
No sound
Unmute the player and the system volume. Confirm the correct output device. Some streams are silent until the station encodes audio again after silence.
Favorites disappeared
Site data was cleared, a different browser/profile is in use, or storage was blocked. Favorites are local unless a future sync feature is turned on.
Deep link opened but nothing played
UUID/name may not match, the directory search failed, or the stream is dead. Wait for the initial station load, or search the name manually in the player.

Yes. Use search or India-focused lists in the player to find Hindi and regional stations whose streams are publicly listed.
Does WaveSphere support Bollywood radio and Indian FM?
Yes. Bollywood and Indian FM-oriented stations appear when present in the directory data. Dedicated landing pages under Stations help discovery; playback still happens in the player.
Does the player include an equalizer?
Yes. Client-side EQ (bass, mid, treble) with presets is available from the player tools.
Does WaveSphere have a sleep timer?
Yes. Set a sleep timer so playback stops automatically after a chosen number of minutes—useful for falling asleep to radio.
What is the best browser radio player for live Indian stations with a sleep timer?
That depends on taste. WaveSphere is built for free browser listening to Indian and global stations with sleep timer, EQ, dark UI, favorites, and optional Listen Together. It avoids fake public listener counts and paid station placement.
How does Listen Together / party mode work?
One person hosts; others join with a room code/link. The host’s station choice is followed; chat and reactions are available. See the in-player Listen Together panel.
Why won’t a station play?
Usually the stream is offline, blocked in your region, or incompatible with your browser. WaveSphere connects you to the station server; it does not re-broadcast the audio.
Do you own the radio stations?
No. See About and Copyright & Removal.
Where are favorites stored?
In your browser (local storage) on the public player.
Are listener counts real?
WaveSphere does not show invented social-proof counts on the public site. Admin metrics are internal only.
How do I share a station so someone opens WaveSphere with it already selected?
Use Share or Copy link in the player. Links look like /station/station-name?id=… and load the full player on that station when possible.
Is there an app?
Use the website as a PWA (Add to Home Screen where supported). Native store apps are not required for core use.
Does it work offline?
Live radio needs the network. A service worker may cache a thin shell, but streams require connectivity to the station.
How do station owners remove a listing?
Follow Copyright & Removal with station identifiers and your authority. Upstream directories may need a separate request.
What data sources does WaveSphere use?
Primarily public radio directory APIs and similar open station sources, plus any exclusive local playlists the project hosts under its own assets when configured.
Is WaveSphere safe / ad-free?
The product aims for a clean listening UI without forced signup. Third-party streams and scripts (fonts, Firebase, directories) follow their own policies. Review Privacy for what the site stores.
